All-inclusive resorts in vacation destinations charge a nightly rate that includes most of the main parts of the trip: accommodations, endless food and beverages, and some activities and entertainment.

Not all all-inclusive resorts are the same; some bundles consist of more than others.

What’s included?

All-inclusive resorts typically include:

  • Room
  • Food: all snacks and meals
  • Drinks: alcoholic and nonalcoholic
  • Non-motorized water sports
  • Access to resort amenities such as the gym, pool, and sports facilities

All-Inclusive Resorts Are Not All-the-Same

Inclusions

Although the name suggests it, not everything is included. For instance, some resorts might provide free transport to and from the airport; some might charge an extra fee.

At some resorts, spa treatments, golfing, water sports, and other excursions cost extra. Top-shelf liquor may cost extra, too. Tips and gratuities may be prohibited or expected depending upon the resort.

Finally, some resorts have premium-level areas such as lounges, pools, and a section of the beach for an extra charge.

Check the resort for exclusions to prevent surprises, such as a Wi-Fi charge.

Amenities

Amenities at all-inclusive resorts vary vastly to create any conceivable atmosphere.

Food: Options include resorts with teppanyaki restaurants, 7 bars, extensive worldwide buffets, or delightful chef’s table experiences.

Activities: From dance classes and morning yoga to watersports and fishing, the various activities at all-inclusive resorts are worth a look.

Rooms: Unique features like swim-up rooms or private terraces combine with settings such as cliffside views or lush gardens, allowing you to choose the ambiance that suits you precisely. From family suites to couples retreats, it’s worth investing extra time in discovering your dream.

Beach: Breathtaking beaches are generally expected but whether the beach is swimmable or not depends on the resort. When beach swimming is not possible, the views and pools more than make up for it.

Who are all-inclusive resorts for?

Family-friendly: Water parks and even a shade canopy at the wading pool are fantastic perks that family-friendly all-inclusive resorts provide. Resorts provide childcare to permit parents to unwind in adult-only areas of the resort. Activities for the family or just the kids abound, such as unlimited snorkeling, sailing, water skiing, windsurfing, archery, flying trapeze, tennis, and more.

Adult-only: From resorts surrounded by botanical gardens to swim-up bars, adults only resorts can unlock your dream vacation. Resorts can include kayaking, sailing, windsurfing, snorkeling, and parasailing in the all-inclusive fee. Some resorts cater to couples with swim-out balconies and candlelit dinners on the sand.

Where the Best All-Inclusive Resorts are Located

Many all-inclusive resorts are located in Mexico and the Caribbean. Labor costs in these destinations allow guests to get the most value for their dollar. Plus, the beaches are unbelievable. The best all-inclusive resorts generally have extensive grounds, offering numerous amenities to experience everything without leaving the property.

Is It Worth It?

Simplify Planning: If planning which restaurant to go to is overwhelming, you may enjoy an all-inclusive resort.

Ease of Budgeting: When a lot of your significant expenses are pre-paid, you completely understand your vacation’s costs as early as booking. The pressures of planning and budgeting disappear with a resort that includes everything from meals to activities.

Benefits for Family: Since kids clubs, water activities, and pool fun is typically included, these activities will entertain the kids for some time. Plus, you don’t have to worry about saying “no” to your child’s requests.
